Shop FAQ's:
Where did the name ''Tiny Treats'' come from?
Well, my shop was originally named Toxic Treats since I thought well they're little items that are treats but you can't eat them because they're not made from edible materials but I thought that didn't go with my 'cute' theme so I changed it to Tiny Treats which came from the idea that I sell tiny semi-realistic and kawaii food themed products like cakes, chocolates, etc. - little 'treats'!
Do you sell your charms?
I sure do! I put them up for sale (unless they are inspired by another crafter or artist) on my Etsy Shop!
Can I request a custom order?
Sorry, but at the moment I'm not taking custom orders. This is mainly due to me being extremely busy with university work (see the personal section for more details) and other things so I am unable to make them quickly. I may open them again in the future!
How much are your charms?
Here is what I sell & how much they (usually) cost in GBP:
Necklaces: £5.00
Brooch/Pin Badges: £5.00
Rings: £1.50 - £5.00 (If it is polymer clay, it will be £5.00)
Earrings: £5.00
Chokers: £3.00
Charm Bracelets: £8.00
Planner Charms: £5.00
How much is shipping?
United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland):
£1.50 - £3.00
Everywhere Else (USA, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Asia, etc.)
£3.30 - £4.30
It really is depending on if the item needs to be in a bigger box, making it bulkier. I try to make it as flat as possible but unfortunately, I need to sometimes put them in boxes due to the rough handling of the post office.
What happens if my item arrives broken?!
I do package my products to my best standard to make sure the items are wrapped well in bubble wrap and maybe a cardboard box to ensure it has a safe journey across to where you are!
I currently do not offer returns or exchanges, sorry. My creations are made to be as durable and strong as possible, although these are hand made and should be treated accordingly. However, If your item is damaged or broken when it arrives, let me know within 14 days of receipt and I will try my best to work something out with you or give you a refund for the particular item that has broken. I do ask for a photograph of broken said item via Etsy conversations for proof or I will most likely NOT send a refund.
PLEASE NOTE: Refunds can take up to 7 BUSINESS DAYS (Monday-Friday) to come into your PayPal or bank account. I unfortunately CAN NOT make this GO any FASTER as usually it has to be transferred from my bank to your bank or Paypal.
Clay related questions:
What clay do you use?
I use the polymer clay brands FIMO and Sculpey Premo, Sculpey III. You can buy this type of clay off Ebay or from your local craft store such as Hobbycraft (if you live in the UK) or The Range.
What temperature can I bake my polymer clay creations at? Can I use a microwave?
Well, you are better off looking at your packaging instructions. I usually bake mine on Slow Cook on my Gas cooker and a maximum of 100 degrees C on my fan assisted oven (at university) for around 20-30 minutes. You CAN NOT use a microwave for Polymer clay, only FIMO air dry clay (please read their package instructions on how to do that!). You CAN use Fan assisted ovens, Gas oven, Electric oven and Convection ovens.
How do you keep clay clean?!
Baby wipes are my best friend when it comes to this! I use them to wipe my hands, tools, surfaces. Also, use a scrap piece of clay and roll this around on your hand & surfaces as it will help get off excess dust off your hands. If I still have dirt/dust on my already baked pieces, I use cotton buds/Q-tips dipped in acetone/alcohol rub/nail polish remover and swipe/rub it over the dust on the piece to lift the dirt off.
Where do you buy your findings from?
I buy mine from Ebay or the-beadshop.co.uk :)
What tools do you recommend buying?
When starting polymer clay, I highly recommend you get yourself a clay & bake mat by Sculpey - it's very useful as you can bake it with your creations on too! If you can't afford it, just use one of those plastic place mats..just don't bake it. I used one for years. I also recommend you buy some blades/an exacto knife for cutting clay. For texturing, you can use anything! get a toothbrush (not one you use, obviously!) or a nail scrubbing brush for cupcake and bread textures, tin foil for ice cream/bread/nori texture, a needle/pin/toothpick for creating that cake texture.. the possibilities are endless! You can literally use anything from around your house as tools. You will also want to buy sugar paste/small cookie cutters - especially round/circle ones since they're the ones I find the most useful. I'll eventually upload a video about how to make bowls for your creations using marbles.
What camera do you use to take your pictures?
I use my Olympus SZ800.
What editing software do you use?
I use Photoshop CS2. For a free editing software, you can try Picmonkey which is just as good! or GIMP. For on the go on my iPhone, I use VCSO Cam and also LINE Camera (formerly Allis). For my YouTube Videos I use Windows Live Movie Maker & Microsoft Encoder 4.
-Personal FAQ's-
Where are you from?
I'm born & bred in Manchester, UK. I've never lived anywhere else until I recently moved to another city for university!
How old are you?
I'm coming up to my 21st birthday (Feb 21st) :)
Where do you work?
I don't work at the moment though I have volunteered in the past for a charity that helps the elderly. I'm currently a full-time Fine Art student in my second year! I love it, It has been a goal of mine since I was at secondary school and definitely one of my passions. I'm hopefully going to turn it into my dream job! I also run my shop Tiny Treats. Unfortunately, this is the reason why my shop kind of comes secondary to my studies. After all, my* future depends on this degree!
*I know that you don't always need a degree to land a job. However, for my ideal job I would almost definitely need one.
Can I see your artworks?
Of course you can! I mostly post illustrations and watercolour paintings on my Deviant Art and personal Instagram account and my Fine Art course pieces are on my Fine Art Instagram account and my Facebook page.
That's all I can think of for now, if I think of anything more to add, I will add the Q&A later on. Thank you for reading! - Laura
